Job Description:

This position is in the School of Teaching and Learning, an academic unit in the College of Education. The academic assistant serves as the face of the unit's academic office and acts as a liaison between students, faculty, and other university units. The employee's main duties are academic in nature.

Lead textbook adoption process for all departmental courses; upload syllabi prior to each semester; manage course evaluation process; assist with building and editing the schedule of courses for the department; set up and manage DocuSign process for programs of study and all academic milestone paperwork.

Support admissions process by managing initial email and phone inquiries by prospective students and sending them to the correct person for support; entering data into admission tracking sheets; checking for proper coding of newly admitted online students.

Support other staff with record keeping for all current students (Programs of study, transfer credits, registration preparation, graduation checks, monitoring bad grades and incompletes)

Front desk responsibilities include answering main phone line and transferring calls to the appropriate support person; locking and unlocking hallways, main areas, and bathrooms for STL spaces; communicating STL Website corrections with ETC office.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor or School Director

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • AA/AS Degree or bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience with student admission and graduate records. Experience in institutes of higher education.
  • Excellent computer skills. Ability to work in an academic environment with good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organization skills.
