The Dean of Students Office (DSO) is looking for a solution-focused candidate who is committed to improving the student experience to join our team. The Campus Assistance & Resources for Empowerment (CARE) Assistant will provide direct student support and efficient coordination of student services across CARE programs. The incumbent may interact with students, families, staff, faculty, and documentation providers within a fast-paced environment to handle sensitive information as they respond to walk-ins and referrals for students of concern.
This is a time-limited OPS position that will be projected to be in place until the end of June 2026 but may be adjusted based on departmental needs.
35% Direct Student Support
Responds to walk-in and call-in student traffic. Acts as a facilitator of problem solving who hears student concerns, understands University policies, procedures and programs to refer students experiencing uncertainty and distress to appropriate University health and well-being services to advance student success.
25% Medical Petition Support
Supports administrative of functions the Medical Petitions process to ensure timely and accurate decisions. Processes and reviews materials for all medical petitions submitted. Sends correspondence to students about the status of their medical petitions. Recommends improvements to enhance efficiency of program. Completes backup Medical Petition Coordinator functions during peak seasons or during their absence.
25% Instructor Notification Processing
Reviews, assigns and responds to incoming requests for Instructor Notifications. Analyzes submissions and identify trends to connect students to support mechanisms. Prepares utilization and assessment summaries to improve process.
10% CARE Referral, Documentation and Assessment
Monitors referral process to identify opportunities for improve process, support students enhance student satisfaction. Recommends and implements efficient coordination and CARE referrals to improve student support and satisfaction. Coordinate with CARE leadership to monitor CARE referrals create seamless support for student experiencing uncertainty or distress
5% Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor including, but not limited to: drafting revising student communications, scheduling case management appointments, proposing website updates, working with other staff to maintain customer service and efficiency of the CARE programs.
