Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Analytic Services provides guidance and advancement of the strategic plan for Student Life Assessment and Research (A&R). They perform and oversee data queries, strategic analyses, and data reporting in support of the Division of Student Life (DSL) and its units. They assist with the direction of departmental data management and analytic services for the DSL. They assist in developing and implementing DSL unit performance measurement systems and their alignment with divisional goals. They support proactive reporting and responses to data requests on a departmental and divisional level. They coordinate major data projects and develop strategies to manage institutional data. They directly supervise practicum and internship student employees and indirectly supervise professional staff on projects.

Working Title: Assistant Director, Student Life Assessment and Research

  • High-Level Data Analysis and Strategic Analysis: Assist in the direction of analytic and strategic services in A&R. Perform and oversee high-level planning, querying and assembly of data, strategic analysis, and reporting supporting A&R, other DSL units, and the Division at large. Research and develop strategies to capture and manage the division's emerging data requirements. Assist in developing and implementing DSL unit performance measurement systems and their alignment with divisional goals.
  • Project Consultant: Coordinate major data projects and develop strategies to manage institutional data. Determine the division's current and projected information needs and help develop strategies to meet these needs. Serve as the lead analyst on assigned projects. Assist division departments in planning, designing, implementing, analyzing, and reporting research, evaluation, and assessment activities.
  • Communication and Training: Communicate with unit Data Custodians to accomplish reporting and assessment priorities. Conduct educational training for Data Custodians and other division staff on assessment tools, reporting processes, and relevant university updates and initiatives.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Collaborates with the Director of Student Life Assessment and Research (A&R) to provide strategic direction and guidance for A&R’s objectives and goals. Supervise 1-2 Practicum students and 1-2 Student Analysts, and indirectly coordinate or supervise staff for ongoing or ad-hoc projects. Help manage and oversee the day-to-day running of the A&R office and help determine short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the office. Serve as a department representative.
  • Institutional Effectiveness: Coordinate DSA institutional effectiveness plans and reports and reaffirmation narratives to support UF’s SACSCOC accreditation.
  • Committees: Serve on university and division committees, teams, sub-councils, and task forces.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years' experience in higher education and/or Student Life.
  • Technical skills in various data management and analytic programs such as SPSS, SQL, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, and Python.
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and participate within a team.
