The Heavener School of Business (HSB) is currently expanding its International Programs team to support its Global Business Leaders initiative, Exchange Programs, as well as the Heavener Sponsored International opportunities available to business and non-business majors.  We are seeking multiple dynamic and creative professionals to serve as Assistant Directors and lead these programs.   

Ideal experiences for these roles include strong background in academic and/or study abroad advising; familiarity with managing and creating Study Abroad or Exchange student experiences, as well as background or familiarity with managing study abroad cohort models such as the Global Business Leadership experiences that deliver unrivaled social, academic, and career outcomes. These roles are perfect for someone with strong understanding of international program management, international program policies and best practices, strong communication and administrative skills, and a deep commitment to enhance students' global experiences.

Available roles: 

Assistant Director: Global Business Leaders 

  • Serves as the point of contact for the Global Business Leaders (GBL) program and other designated international programs offered through HSB.  

  • Collaborates with the Director of International Programs, the HSB faculty, and department chairs to develop the GBL curriculum. 

  • Produces evaluation and annual reports detailing the accomplishments of GBL student cohorts. 

  • Monitors course equivalency databases for the GBL applicants and cohort. 

  • Contributes to the overall strategic planning of the International Program Office. 

  • Promotes the GBL program to help students internationalize their curriculum and to recruit students for the program. 

  • Creates engaging events and social media campaigns to celebrate the accomplishments of the GBL cohort and to raise program awareness and encourage participation in the GBL. 

  • Monitors and updates program information and accuracy on the HSB website. 

  • Facilitates applicants’ admissions and registration needs. 

  • Provides ongoing student support from the recruiting phase to graduation from the program. 

Assistant Director: International Programs 

  • Provides holistic academic and study abroad advising to HSB, and non-HSB students, through scheduled in- person appointments and electronic communication platforms. 

  • Assists students in selecting study abroad programs and ensuring their choices align with their academic and professional goals. 

  • Support students during critical or urgent situations using university and partner resources abroad. 

  • Serves as a point of contact for all HSB and non-HSB international programs.  

  • Recommends creative programming to enhance student outcomes and intercultural competencies. 

  • Produces and distributes evaluation reports for HSB and international partners. 

Assistant Director: Exchange Programs 

  • Maintains and fosters relationships with HSB-sponsored exchange programs and partners. 

  • Guides students in selecting study abroad and exchanges to ensure program fits and aligns with their academic and professional goals. 

  • Assists with study abroad application and visa processes. 

  • Assists in implementing strategies to promote exchange programs. 

  • Conducts weekly audits of exchange applicants and to ensure program updates, information, and accuracy on the HSB website. 

  • Produces and distributes evaluation reports for HSB and international partners. 

  • Monitors course equivalency database for exchange courses. 

  • Assists in updating and maintaining pre-departure guides, Canvas pages, and other programmatic/instructional materials for study abroad programs. 

  • Collaborates with program partners and the Director to provide recommendations to enhance the format and delivery of Exchange programs, student satisfaction, and success. 

Core Job Duties for all 3 Assistant Director Roles include but are not limited to: 

Advising: 

  • Provides holistic academic and study abroad advising for all HSB and non-HSB international programs students through in-person appointments and electronic communication. 

  • Assists and guides students through study abroad application and visa processes. 

  • Collaborates with program partners and University of Florida International Center (UFIC) to address student questions and concerns. 

  • Supports students during critical or urgent situations using university and partner resources abroad. 

Program Management and Administration:

  • Develops and fosters relationships with HSB program partners domestically and abroad. 

  • In collaboration with partners, ensures seamless processes for guiding students through the application, pre-approval, and nomination processes to enhance students’ experiences and participation in study abroad opportunities 

  • Registers study abroad students (in UF courses) when appropriate. 

  • Collaborates with the program partners and the Director to provide recommendations to enhance the format and delivery of international programs to impact student experience and success. 

  • Assists in updating and maintaining pre-departure guides, Canvas pages, and other programmatic/instructional materials for study abroad programs. 

  • Follows up with students about course equivalencies, application status, and missing documents. 

Program Marketing 

  • Assists in promoting international programs that align with the mission of the department and help students in internationalizing their curriculum. 

  • Assists in creating academic and social events including the use of social media and related promotional resources to enhance students’ awareness of study abroad and encourages their participation in international programs.  

  • Monitors the weekly audits of students’ application status. 

  • Assists in monitoring and updating program information on HSB website. 

  • Assists in international program presentations and promotions for the GEB 2015 Warrington Welcome and related events. 

  • Represents HSB at Study Abroad Fairs, Business Bashes, and other relevant conferences and events.   

Strategic Planning 

  • Contributes to the overall strategic planning of the International Program Office. 

  • Develops creative programming to enhance student intercultural competencies and outcomes. 

  • Presents the benefits of ALL HSB international programs to students. 

Program Evaluation and Assessment 

  • Conducts assessments to ensure program integrity, competency development, and student satisfaction. 

  • Produces and distributes evaluation reports for HSB and international partners. 

Additional Duties  

  • Participates in University and College commencement services. 

  • Volunteer in review committees for international scholarships. 

  • International Travel as needed. 

Work Schedule:   

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.   

  • These positions are eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule.   

  • Participation in evening or weekend events as required.   

  • On-call duty for emergencies involving students abroad.

About the City of Gainesville 

Gainesville is home to Florida's largest and oldest university and is one of the state's centers of education, medicine, cultural events, and athletics. Additionally, the city boasts a regional transit system, a regional airport, and a 72-par championship golf course. Expected Salary:

$60,000- $68,000, commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field and 2 years of experience in study abroad programming, higher education, or international business. 

  • Previous experience in student advising, managing study abroad programs, and leading student organizations. 

  • Thorough knowledge of academic and administrative policies and study abroad processes. 

  • Proficiency in Terra Dotta, Campus Solutions (COMPASS), Microsoft Office, and social media platforms. 

  • Experience utilizing a holistic advising approach and assisting students in their academic and study abroad planning. 

  • Articulating the benefits of international experiences to undergraduate students.
