Job Description:

The incumbent will work in a collaborative environment with the development team and serve as an equal contributor to the evolution of the department’s software systems. Under direct supervision, the developer will participate in requirements gathering meetings with customers as well as sprint planning sessions with the development team to ensure requirements are programmable. The developers work through sprints together, performing code reviews, giving and receiving feedback and sharing knowledge gained. Systems, libraries and settings are documented by team members in software wiki’s and team members participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming and sprint retrospectives.

Essential functions include:

  • Developing new software code for a modern ReactJS and ASP.NET API web-based application that ties into a CI/CD Pipeline for rapid deployment. Reading requirements from Jira epics and user stories and translating it into usable functionality.
  • Maintaining legacy code in an ASP.NET Web Forms application, and misc. ASP.NET desktop applications. Responding to help desk tickets from university stakeholders, fixing bugs and implementing improvements to the legacy system.
  • Attending Sprint planning meetings and working as a group to further refine user stories to ensure they are programmable and scale to a two week sprint cycle. Attending meetings with stakeholders to determine desired functionality for the in-progress web application software rewrite.
  • Participating in code reviews of other development team members work, providing & receiving feedback in a collaborative environment.
  • Managing two iOS mobile applications built in XCode.
  • Participating in Agile Scrum ceremonies in addition to sprint planning (mentioned above), such as backlog grooming and sprint retrospectives.
  • Writing documentation in software wikis providing overviews of system functionality, tools needed, build instructions, etc.
Expected Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years or more of experience in designing, testing, debugging and deploying web-based applications. 
  • Experience with ASP.NET, Web API, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS and object-oriented languages. 
  • Experience with UI development, Git, React, JavaScript and modern JavaScript libraries/frameworks is beneficial.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to Agile software teams
  • The successful candidate should have the desire and ability to learn additional technologies as projects demand.
