Job Description:

Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (SCCR), within the Dean of Students Office, provides a process focused on accountability, development, and support of those involved or impacted by violations of University of Florida regulations. This is achieved through an educational and restorative lens that encourages civility, upholds the integrity of institutionally awarded degrees, and helps promote the safety of the University Community.

The Associate Director collaborates to provide leadership for the overall operations of SCCR and has a specific focus on resolution processes for academic misconduct, student conduct, and organizational conduct. The Associate Director will facilitate planning, implementation, assessment, evaluation, and ongoing improvement for staff, processes, procedures and other operational needs within SCCR. The Associate Director is a charging agent, facilitates information meetings, and leads case resolution (administrative review, hearings, restorative dialogue, mutual agreement, etc.) as needed. Finally, the Associate Director will collaborate with others within the Dean of Students Office, Division of Student Life, and other units across the UF academic enterprise and serves as a point of contact to address inquiries, concerns, complaints, and resolve challenges, including assisting faculty, staff, students, and a wide variety of external parties through SCCR processes.

SCCR Operations

  • Supervises staff for case resolution, including Assistant Directors and Coordinator(s), and other roles as assigned.
  • Collaborates with DSO Units, the Division of Student Life, as well as Campus and Community Partners to ensure alignment of university processes.
  • As part of Dean of Students Office leadership team, assists with DSO formulation of policies and procedures, special projects or initiatives as identified by the Dean of Students, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, or appropriate administrator.
  • Assists Assistant Dean and Director with long-term management and strategic alignment of SCCR through oversight of assigned areas of the unit.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of program function documentation and records.
  • Oversees records maintenance to ensure compliance with institutional policies, local/state/federal law, and reporting requirements; provides responsive information related to Florida Open Records requests.
  • Manages case tracking and monitoring to ensure efficient, accurate, and effective case processes.
  • Collaborates with Assistant Dean and Director to ensure goals and objectives for SCCR are developed, communicated, implemented, and achieved.

SCCR Resolution Processes

  • Manages the coordination and strategic oversight of student conduct code and student honor code cases through all resolution process types.
  • Manages the training of professional staff, graduate assistants, case coordinators, graduate interns, students, volunteers, and others related to resolution processes.
  • Lead efforts to monitor and manage caseloads, prioritize, and complete resolutions, and provide reports to departmental leadership regularly.
  • Makes recommendations for ongoing improvement of processes, programs, and services offered through the resolution processes.

Strategic/Ongoing Improvement

  • Strong contributor to the ongoing improvement cycle within Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution, including program/service alignment, assessment, and enhancement.
  • Develops systematic approaches to enhance business processes and operations to align with Dean of Students Office strategic goals and objectives.

Departmental and Divisional Contribution

  • Contributes to the Dean of Students Office (DSO), Division of Student Life, and University of Florida through active participation on committees, department initiatives, and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: behavioral consultation team, emergency dean on call, conduct committee, student welcome events, etc.).  

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, or appropriate administrator.
  • Actively engages professional development to continuously improve practice.
  • May act to lead the functions of SCCR in the absence of the Assistant Dean and Director.
Expected Salary:

$62,500 – $70,000;

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master’s degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, Master’s degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience, or a bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of appropriate experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing mediation, restorative practices, and other conflict resolution models.
  • Demonstrated experience with organizational conduct processes, including investigations.
