Job Description:

Provides non-clinical support services to UF students, their parents/families, faculty, staff and community members on a variety of complex wellbeing concerns. This includes, but is not limited to:

• The intake of student concerns, making referrals to appropriate campus and community resources, and conducting follow-up with students to determine level of success with referrals and/or need for additional assistance

• Supporting Behavioral Consultation Team intervention and response to students of concern

• Participating in area email response on a rotating basis

• Developing individualized success plans with students

• Guiding UF students and their parents/families/emergency contacts(s)/designees to understand relevant university processes and procedures

• Completing regular records maintenance to ensure compliance with institutional policies, relevant laws, and mandated reporting 

Provides outreach to UF students who are referred to or brought to the attention of the Dean of Students Office by concerned faculty, staff, family members, fellow students, or other community members.

Assists UF students and their parents/families understand the medical petition process and support them in completing this process when necessary and appropriate. Develops success plans with students who complete the medical petition process to ensure a smooth transition back to the university.

Responds to students and provides emergency assistance to students, parents, faculty, and others in crisis situations as part on an on-call rotation for responding to U Matter We Care reports/referrals and as an on-call “Emergency Dean.” Assists other areas of the Dean of Students Office with special projects as needed.

Develops and delivers education to graduate students, graduate faculty, and staff. Facilitates workshops and other initiatives focused on student development, health, and wellbeing.

Assists in ensuring that the goals and objectives for the Dean of Students Office and the university are communicated and achieved. This may include performing duties beyond the scope of the primary responsibilities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$47,500 – $52,500

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's in social work, counseling, student affairs, higher education, or related field. - Three-to-five years of experience in higher education managing student crisis and providing direct service to students in distress. - Evidence of successfully working with students, their parents/families, faculty, and staff. - Demonstrate proactive, collaborative, timely, effective, and compassionate work style

Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
