Job Description:

The Digital Worlds Institute in the College of the Arts seeks a professional Adjunct Lecturer to to teach DIG3713, Game Content Production 1, online for Summer 2024. The ideal candidate possesses experience industry-quality game design, mastery of the production pipelines, and a passion for educating future generations of game developers and artists.

DIG3713, Game Content Production 1, emphasizes instruction on Unity game development and a deep understanding and practice of game design, including the creation of game assets, level design, and scripting techniques. It aims to impart to students the professional methodologies employed in crafting engaging multi-level games within the 2-2.5D space.

This remote position requires an estimated 8-12 hours/week to support this course. This time-limited appointment is from May 15, 2024 – August 11, 2024. This online course comes with pre-created asynchronous learning content, assessments, and supplemental materials and requires the instructor of record to provide online facilitation, grading, and feedback for 35 students.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate online learning while creating and maintaining a positive and engaging online learning environment.
  • Facilitate instruction of course materials for DIG3713 Game Content Production 1
  • Develop and assess student assignments, providing timely and constructive feedback on student work.
  • Monitor and respond to student inquiries and discussions in the online course platform.
  • Adhere to the course schedule, staying updated with industry trends and techniques to enhance course content and instruction.
  • Promote academic integrity and enforce course policies and guidelines.
  • Utilize appropriate online learning platforms, communication tools (including Zoom), and digital resources to deliver course content effectively.
  • Maintain an organized course schedule and be available to students for support and clarification through online communication channels.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of online learners and create an inclusive and supportive online learning environment.
Expected Salary:

$5,000.00

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, in a related field with significant years of professional experience. Such as Digital Arts, Computer Science, or Game Design.
  • Demonstrated expertise in game content development, specifically with the Unity game engine, including experience with using scripts, asset creation, level design, and/or UI design within Unity.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools, including Unity Hub, Unity LTS Editor, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Visual Studio (or similar C# scripting editor).
  • Understanding and ability to navigate and troubleshoot C# scripts.
Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring to the position:

  • Master's degree or higher, in a related field such as Digital Arts, Computer Science, Game Design, or a relevant discipline
  • Experience teaching or instructing, especially in an online setting.
  • Proficiency in using online learning management systems (LMS), multimedia software, and digital tools relevant to game design and production.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate student needs and maintain regular online presence.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex concepts and provide constructive feedback to students
  • Ability to develop and deliver course content within the designated timeframe
  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.
