The Multi-County IPM Extension Specialist will conduct pest and disease assessments across southwest Florida, including (but not limited to) Hendry, Glades, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties. In collaboration with growers and scouts, the specialist will monitor pest and disease populations, conduct on-farm trials, and disseminate findings to the grower community. Job duties include significant driving time to collaborating farms and time outdoors on collaborator’s farms. This will include collecting traps and identifying insect populations, collecting plant material for disease identification, and conducting insect and disease damage ratings. In conjunction with growers, the specialist will also conduct on-farm pest and disease trials to meet stakeholder’s needs. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for data entry, corresponding with project partners, and compiling reports for timely communication with the grower community.
