Job Description:

The Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, is seeking a full-time OPS Research Technician to support ongoing projects in psychiatric genetics and genomics. The selected candidate will work closely with the the Principal Investigator on molecular biology and genetics research.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • DNA and RNA isolation and purification
  • Implement functional genomics assays
  • Working with patient-derived IPS cells
  • Preparing libraries for high-throughput sequencing
  • Assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in lab organization
  • Ordering reagents and supplies
  • Supervising undergraduate students in the lab
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
Expected Salary:

$16 - $20 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Laboratory experience
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Cell and tissue culture experience
