Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 11 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As the lead HR Generalist with the UFHCC, you will join our Office of Human Resources and serve as the primary HRBP for the Center. This is a critical, highly visible role on our HR team and is the leader of our People Operations unit.

In your new role you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with UFHCC managers and leadership to review issues, advise on best practices, and consult on the management of their teams.
  • Working with UFHCC staff, managers, and leadership to facilitate HR actions and advise on matters within the scope of HR practice.
  • Assisting the Director with the development and oversight of the People Operations unit, helping to troubleshoot issues, mentor staff, and supporting the unit as the team lead.
  • Evaluating pay practices, policies, workflows, etc. and proposing creative, innovative solutions to resolve issues arising from the course of normal business operations.

This is position is ideal for candidates with established experience in HR who want to further their career in HR. As the lead generalist, a developed understanding of HR best practice and employment laws/regulations is essential to success in this position. Expected Salary:

$67,500 - $75,000; commensurate with education and experience.

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Masters’ in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Six to eight years’ progressively responsible experience in HR supporting complex business units and driving organizational growth. Direct experience in higher education and/or academic research is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a resource and SME on HR and OD policies and best practices, organizational development best practices, strategic planning, and other related areas of practice.
  • Experience with coaching and mentorship with a focus on developing new managers and leaders.
  • Experience in handling complex employee relations issues with a desire to resolve through innovative means and determine “best case” solutions.
  • Experience in workplace mediation, alternative conflict resolution techniques, etc. including certification through a recognized institution.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated success and experience in project management, as well as the ability to lead focus groups and committees through project completion.
  • Proficient time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, anticipate and identify conflicts, and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
