The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Gainesville is recruiting a full-time tenure or non-tenure track acute care surgeon to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery. We currently have 14 full-time surgeons and follow a shared service model, covering acute care surgery, adult trauma care, surgical critical care, complex abdominal wall and intestinal fistula reconstruction, and burn. Our Level I trauma center provides care to over 5,000 trauma admissions/year, including 17% penetrating trauma volume. Our operative volume for trauma and acute care surgery is over 2,000 cases/year.

This position is available at the Florida Institute for National Security (FINS) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) and the University of Florida. The preferred candidate should possess a background in applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research in hardware security and assurance, specifically in reverse engineering of both integrated circuits (IC) and printed circuit boards (PCB). Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate expertise in applying computer vision, image analysis techniques, machine learning, deep learning to IC and PCB reverse engineering as well as expertise in areas of explainable AI, causal AI, and reinforcement learning. Duties will include, but not be limited to, conducting research on the development of machine learning methods for assurance on hardware devices like PCBs and ICs as well as on the development of automated hardware reverse engineering approaches at the IC and PCB levels for design recovery. Primary responsibilities will also encompass project management to meet project deliverable commitments including tasks such as organizing weekly project meetings, mentoring students, software prototyping, creation of scholarly publications, and the delivery of presentations to share research outcomes. This role will also involve collaborations with FINS faculty, sponsors, and partners for overseeing grant-funded projects, paving the way for future collaborations and crafting proposals for funding from industry and government-level agencies.

A postdoctoral position is available in the Center for Molecular Magnetic Quantum Materials (M2QM) at the University of Florida and Florida State University. The position will be jointly supervised by Prof. Stephen Hill and Prof. Richard Hennig. The project involves fundamental spectroscopic investigations of molecular quantum materials in the Electron Magnetic Resonance (EMR) group at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab, employing state-of-the-art instrumentation available at the MagLab for both continuous-wave and pulsed EPR at high magnetic fields. Additional stimuli, such as light irradiation and electric fields, will also be available to further modulate the quantum properties of the molecules under study. Areas of interest within M2QM that are under active investigation at the MagLab include understanding decoherence processes and the development of strategies for enhancing coherence in molecular spin qubits; demonstration of multi-qubit entanglement and quantum logic operations in magnetic molecules; and exploitation of magnetoelectric coupling and optical activity for realization of electrically and optically switchable spin qubits. The successful applicant should have a PhD in either physics, physical chemistry, or a closely related discipline. Some experience in the use of EPR spectroscopy is preferred. Strong consideration will also be given to applicants who have experience with other spectroscopic or magnetic characterization methods, particularly as applied to molecular materials.
