Job Description:

The Center is seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher with research expertise in Mathematics Education. The Postdoctoral Researcher’s main assignment will be research and development, particularly of the Math Matrix, The Data Lagoon, and NSF-funded Practice-Driven PD Grant. There will also be some expectation for evaluation and dissemination. In this role, the postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with the Lastinger Center Math team in professional development design, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis, and presentation and publication of results for a wide variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities to include:

Research:

  • Supports PI sponsored research project(s).
  • Develops and analyzes research activities and makes changes in methods and procedures as necessary.
  • Abstracts, collects, and/or synthesizes data from research and evaluation participants and enters information into the designated forms/database to comply with study protocols.
  • Participants in internal/external research related conferences and investigator meetings to build and maintain relationships.
  • Assists in the recruitment and relationship building of participants, arranges study visits or activities, and provides instructions to meet the goals of the study or evaluation.
  • May coordinate multi-project studies.

Subject-Mater Expertise:

  • Supports development of reports and dissemination of findings related to the Center’s work in mathematics.
  • Conducts literature reviews to inform research and development of the mathematics product line.
  • Provides feedback on content and products and their implementation from a data or research standpoint as needed.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with research staff, students, OPS, or other research teams and/or other coordinators.
  • Collaborate with Math Team associates and other Lastinger Center associates as needed, such as content
    developers/writers, program managers, product managers, learning experiences team members, designers, data scientists and analysts.
  • Works with external partners on research activities.

Other duties as assigned

Will travel for an assigned business purpose moderately.

Expected Salary:

$65,000-$75,000

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Preferred:
  • Experience with online or in-person teaching mathematics and/or education and online learning platforms.
  • Experience with online or in-person teaching mathematics and/or education.
  • K-12 classroom teaching experience in the United States.
  • Experience conducting classroom observations.
  • A strong commitment for and deep knowledge of research-based and standards-based strategies for K12
  • Mathematics curriculum development, instruction, and assessment.
  • Commitment to the creation of original, student-centered content for the benefit of educators and students.
  • Experience publishing in peer-reviewed research journals in mathematics education.
  • Experience with quantitative research methods.
  • Earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field at the time of appointment.
  • Experience with qualitative research methods.
  • Comfort with new and emerging technologies
