These tenure-ineligible faculty positions are individuals not normally involved in regular academic programs, but who are carrying out the equivalent faculty duties in research and/or cooperative extension programs which may be funded by external or temporary sources.

Faculty holding these titles shall have no regular teaching duties. Teaching on an occasional basis is not precluded, but substantial teaching assignments will not be made.

Performs routine method validations and research experiments. Compiles, calculates, and reviews results. Develops and maintains processes to improve efficiency. Acts as a trusted advisor to and collaborates with internal and external personnel. Evaluates current and future technologies and coordinates purchases with vendors. Compiles and monitors research proposals and project budgets.

Job Description:

The Department of Physiological Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Scientist. The successful candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Chris Vulpe in the areas of chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology and iron metabolism.

Expected Salary:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD degree and should have five or more years of postdoctoral training. Required experience includes: Rodent surgery, real time remote monitoring, rodent toxicology study design and implementation, including dosing, environmental chamber use, IACUC protocol submissions and review. In addition, experience with exosome characterization and biomarker experience, Luminex biomarkers miRNA and spatial next generation sequencing, AI assisted histopathology analysis, rodent models of iron homeostasis and iron related disease are also required.
