Job Description:

This position is responsible for developing and implementing communications services for the AI² Center (Artificial Intelligence Academic Initiative Center). This position is highly independent and oversees all internal and most external communications and contacts; publication and data dissemination; social media strategy and account management; video and podcast productions; helps to arrange and schedules program functions; maintains, designs and provides content for websites. This position also manages a marketing and communications specialist and student interns.

Implement Comprehensive Communications Plan for the AI² Center
Implement the internal and external communications plans for the AI² Center by producing and editing  content for print, electronic, video and audio productions. Develops and produces text and graphical content for internal and external audiences, including brochures and booklets, one-pagers, briefing documents, social communications, electronic newsletter, print and digital advertisements, large-format printing (banners and wall graphics),

Analyzes AI news in the state and nation and communicates top-interest stories to the AI² Center Leadership team. Oversees a communications and marketing specialist, and student interns. Serves as the primary account manager for web and social platforms. Manages email responses to the university’s main email address for AI queries. Provides media support by responding to inquiries and pitching stories to appropriate news outlets to advance UF’s AI mission.

Maintenance AI Websites
Serves as the web developer for the main AI website: ai.ufl.edu and any additional sites as needed. The CMS – Terminal 4 is used for our websites. Duties include website or webpage design, writing and/or editing of content for web placement, design and sizing of graphics.

Conference/event organization
Work with AI² Center leadership team and administrative specialists to organize and implement conferences on AI. Tasks include overall communications strategy, design and publishing of advertisement materials, abstract review, program development, program publishing, website management, and run of show development for conferences and related events. Manages interviews and videos of conference presenters, and photography of event when warranted.

Data Analytics
Ability to analyze and evaluate marketing campaigns and web communications. Communicate analytics and changes in strategy to AI² Center leadership team.

Expected Salary:

$70,000 - $86,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience. 

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

A master’s or bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field and four years of professional experience preferred.

Experience in development and implementation of public relations campaigns, editorial planning, writing, editing, social media, video production, and/or project management coordination.

Experience with communicating scientific discoveries. The ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments independently for self and others.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat Pro, content management systems, HTML, and professional design software.

Excellent written & oral communication skills. Proficiency with HTML and CSS languages for managing and building websites.

Demonstrated proficiency in social media and data analytics.

Ability to work independently and ability to collaborate with faculty, students, administrators, and the general public.
