The developer works with the communications team and faculty to ensure that the website is aligned with current stories, research, and timely content posted to FSG’s social media channels. The developer manages web projects, including building microsites, maintains web accessibility and security, and reports on web traffic and is responsible for the following:
Manage the programs’ websites, make front-end updates as needed and build new pages or sites to promote program initiatives. Maintain FSG’s flagship website (www.flseagrant.org) and associated microsites. Ensure front-end copy and visual identity is accurate, visually appealing, and WCAG compliant. Develop strategic landing pages for digital ad campaigns to drive engagement. Contribute to digital content strategy planning, aligning web efforts with social media calendars and overall communication goals.
Maintain back-end of websites ensuring sites remain online and functioning properly. Proactively maintain sites’ back-end, updating plugins, widgets, domain registrations, certificates, and other processes to keep sites secure and efficient.
Maintain website analytics and create digestible reports and dashboards. Create dashboards for communications team, department leads, and other stakeholders to visualize traffic trends and engagement rates, and translate website analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) into strategic improvement recommendations. Optimize web content for traditional search as well as AI-powered search tools like Google AI Overview and ChatGPT to enhance discoverability.
Develop content such as ArcGIS maps, StoryMaps, or mapping plugins. The developer will assist the communications team with the integration of data and mapping of program projects and provide and execute ideas for better data visualization across program websites.
Other duties or projects as assigned which may require a driver's license for travel to events or professional development opportunities.
