The Department of Environmental and Global Health in the College of Public Health and Health Professions is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate. The successful candidate will be working in the laboratory of Dr. Zhoumeng Lin in the Center for Environmental and Human Toxicology, Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology, and Department of Environmental and Global Health, the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. Research projects for this position include: (1) development of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) and quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models of drugs, environmental chemicals, and nanoparticles for applications in nanomedicine, animal-derived food safety, and human health risk assessment; (2) collection and meta-analysis of pharmacokinetic and tissue distribution data of nanoparticles in healthy and tumor-bearing animals using machine learning and AI approaches; and (3) integration of PBPK and QSAR models with AI methods to develop AI-assisted computational approaches to support decision-making in human, animal and environmental health. This is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month position, expected to start in November 2025, but the start date is flexible.
The Department of Environmental and Global Health (EGH) incorporates a dynamic faculty with expertise spanning environmental infectious diseases, viral discovery, toxicology and exposure science, aquatic systems and coastal community health, global health, AI and GIS, food and nutritional security, and occupational health and safety. EGH programs offer a Master of Health Science and doctoral degrees in Environmental Health and One Health. The College is part of UF’s Health Science Center that also includes the colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. Department faculty also collaborate with the UF Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Center for Environmental and Human Toxicology, the Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and large data sets access.

Required Qualifications: |
A PhD degree in environmental health, biostatistics, epidemiology, toxicology, pharmacometrics, pharmacology, engineering, bioinformatics, or a related field.

Preferred: |
Prior pharmacokinetic modeling or machine learning experience using software such as R, Python, MATLAB, GastroPlus, PK-Sim, Phoenix, Monolix, and Berkeley Madonna.
