The Water Resources Research Group at the Tropical Research and Education Center, University of Florida, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate for a one-year position to support interdisciplinary research at the interface of data analytics, modeling, and agricultural/environmental systems. The position focuses on analyzing experimental and time series data, applying crop and hydrologic modeling tools to improve understanding of soil, water, and plant interactions, and developing data-driven decision support tools.
Position Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze complex experimental datasets, including time series data from field and sensor-based studies.
- Develop and apply advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques using tools such as R and Python.
- Integrate and run process-based models (e.g., crop models, hydrologic models) to support experimental interpretation and scenario analysis.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to publish findings in high-impact journals and present at scientific conferences.

IFAS, one of the nation’s largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations, is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine. UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Required Qualifications: |
- Ph.D. (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Agricultural Engineering, Soil and Water Sciences, Agronomy, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong background in statistics, experimental data analysis, and time series analytics.
- Demonstrated experience in crop or hydrologic modeling (e.g., DSSAT, APEX, HYDRUS, APSIM, or similar tools).
- Proficiency in programming and data analytics using R, Python, or related software.
- Strong publication record and excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
- Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system.
