PhD in Computer Science, Geographic Information Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.

Job Description:

Design and Implement Hybrid Data Architecture:

  • Evaluate, configure, and manage cloud-native data warehouses for scalable spatial analytics
  • Design data flows from warehouse to spatial databases to enable downstream APIs and feature services
  • Develop ETL workflows for cross-domain spatial data integration using staged refinement (e.g. Medallion Architecture)
  • Engage with UF faculty leading FLDT projects to align data integration workflows with project-specific needs and technical requirements

Develop Geospatial APIs and Containerized Serving Infrastructure:

  • Build and document RESTful APIs (e.g., GeoDjango or FastAPI) that expose key spatial datasets
  • Explore and operationalize the role of HiPerGator as a serving and orchestration layer within the hybrid architecture
  • Containerize key components (e.g., APIs, spatial services, PostGIS) using Podman to ensure reproducibility, modular deployment, and future portability

Presentation and report preparation

Expected Salary:

$60,000.00

Preferred:

Ph.D. in Computer Science.

Familiarity with geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, Shapefiles, netCDF) and spatial databases.

Knowledge of GIS software including both Desktop and Server.

Familiarity with middleware and API development for data interoperability and system integration.

Experience working with digital twin platforms, simulation environments, or real-time sensor data.

Prior contributions to research software, open-source projects, or academic collaborations.
