Classification Title:

Core Research Facility Technician III (CRFT 3)

Job Description:

- 50%: Perform single cell RNASeq using the 10X Genomics Chromium platform; process FFPE samples using the CytoAssist for slide-based Visium spatial analysis. Provide customer support for sample preparation.

Reviews literature as directed for the purposes of furthering understanding of the core technologies.

- 20%: Prepare cDNA libraries for bulk RNA-seq; assist with DNA library sample pooling and submit pooled samples to ICBR NGS Shared Resource.

- 10%: Nucleic acid analysis using Nanodrop and Qubit assay, and Bioanalyzer/TapeStation. Present and help interpret results to customers.

- 10%: Perform ddPCR using the Qiagen Qiacuity platform and collect and analyze data. Assist users with operation of QiaCube nucleic acid extraction robot. Develop preventative maintenance schedules and procedures. Troubleshoot equipment failures and arrange for or help with repairs.

Assist customers with walk-up services, train customers on how to use the instruments, and communicate with customers in a professional manner.

- 10%: Monitor lab supplies and additional duties as required.

Expected Salary:

$47,000

Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS in related scientific field required with hands-on experience in basic laboratory and scientific methods. Optionally, 4 years of experience in science related field with at least 3 years in core specific applications. Research-based experience preferred.
Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally yearly certificate and compliance training if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 years lab experience performing standard molecular biology techniques
  with excellent pipetting skills.
- Experience of operating TapeStation/Bioanalzyer and droplet digital PCR machine.
- Previous experiment of customer services.
- Knowledge of and experience working with and maintaining laboratory
  equipment/supplies.
- Ability to learn new laboratory procedures rapidly.
- Detail oriented and ability to maintain accurate lab records and to handle data
  efficiently.
- Self-motivated with ability to plan, organize, and coordinate projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
