Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida invites applications for a  12-month, full-timenon-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer (working title of Assistant Instructional Professor) in the areas of Physical and Biophysical Chemistry to begin May16, 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and be responsible for upper- and lower-level laboratories in Physical and Biophysical chemistry, develop and contribute to the implementation of effective pedagogical materials and course curriculum at the undergraduate level (including electronic course management and online material), managing and training graduate teaching assistants, maintaining and sustaining an appropriate safety culture, and mentorship of undergraduate students. Submission of proposals focused on chemistry education will be encouraged, as will participation in department, university, and professional service activities (e.g., through participation in professional societies). Candidates with experience or willingness to engage in activities that contribute to diversity and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply.

We are seeking outstanding candidates with a background in Chemistry or in a closely related discipline. Applicants must have an excellent record of teaching as well as academic accomplishments, and a strong interest in undergraduate teaching in chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to teach chemistry undergraduate laboratory courses and collaborate with faculty in and outside the department.

Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, and demonstrable expertise in teaching at the university level.
