Job Description:

Research:

  • Supports PI sponsored research project(s).
  • Develops and analyzes research activities and makes changes in methods and procedures as necessary.
  • Abstracts, collects, and/or synthesizes data from research and evaluation participants and enters information into the designated forms/database to comply with study protocols.
  • Participates in internal/external research related conferences and investigator meetings to build and maintain relationships.
  • Assists in the recruitment and relationship building of participants, arranges study visits or activities, and provides instructions to meet the goals of the study or evaluation.
  • May coordinate multi-project studies.

Subject-Matter Expertise:

  • Supports development and review of innovative content for professional learning modules that are context-based and focused on building a conceptual understanding of mathematical content that are based on NCTM and state-specific standards.
  • Supports identification of opportunities for data collection to support research related to the Math Matrix and the teachers it serves, especially as it relates to qualitative research.
  • Contributes to the overall mathematics product line design, development and evaluation.
  • Supports development of reports and dissemination of findings related to the Center’s work in mathematics.
  • Conducts literature reviews to inform research and development of the mathematics product line.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with research staff, students, OPS, or other research teams and/or other coordinators.
  • Collaborates with Math Team associates and other Lastinger Center associates as needed, such as content developers/writers, program managers, product managers, learning experiences team members, designers, data scientists and analysts.
  • Works with external partners on research activities.
  • Facilitates and/or runs research/project team meetings as needed.
  • Builds and maintains a broad network of professional relationships with participants, principal investigator, co-investigators, study staff, and other collaborators to ensure successful research collaborations.

Grants and Requests for Proposals (RFP):

  • Prepares grant and RFP narratives, budgets, and budget narratives.
  • Prepares, negotiates, and manages study contracts.

Other duties as assigned

Travel required for this position is: 1-3x per year

To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field at the time of appointment.
  • Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
  • Comfort with new and emerging technologies
  • Experience with online or in-person teaching mathematics and/or education.
  • Classroom K-12 teaching experience in the United States.
