Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is inviting applicants for a full-time Neonatologist position in the Division of Neonatology as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor rank on a non-tenure accruing level based on qualifications.  We are specifically searching for candidates who will provide care primarily at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine Florida for infants admitted to a 7-bed level II neonatal intensive care unit and for well infants in the mother-baby unit.  There is an opportunity if desired for an individual to maintain skills in caring for critically ill infants at the newly constructed 87-bed level IV NICU at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and at the 48-bed level III NICU at UF Health Jacksonville.  The Division is an active participant in the Vermont-Oxford Network and in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative. 

Under Florida statutes, a level II NICU can care for infants with birth weights greater than or equal to 1250 grams.  If an infant requires subspecialty care or more than 72 hours of assisted ventilation, transfer to a Jacksonville level III/IV NICU is required. 

This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Neonatology and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. 

Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical care to neonates admitted and cared for at the level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and the mother-baby unit at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine Florida. 
  • Optionally staff a limited number of rotations at the level IV/III NICUs in Jacksonville, FL.
  • Teach and supervise the advanced practice providers.
  • Participate on committees to represent the Department of Pediatrics as required by Chief, Division of Neonatology and/or designee as required.
  • Participate in monthly department faculty meetings, administrative functions and institutional and hospital committees as requested.
  • Participate in and support divisional quality improvement, database, and other academic initiatives as needed.

Expected Salary:

$280,000 to negotiable

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have a MD/DO degree, be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida and for credentialing at area hospitals, be a board-certified pediatrician and board eligible/board certified in neonatology; and have demonstrated competency in delivery room stabilization and level II NICU care.
