Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Education invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy to join the Educational Leadership & Policy program area in the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education. The Educational Leadership & Policy program is one of the nation’s top 20 graduate programs in education administration and the number 3 program nationally in online graduate education in education administration. From practice and leadership to research and policy, the Educational Leadership and Policy program at the University of Florida prepares leaders to shape the future of K-12 education and researchers to inform policy and practice The Educational Leadership & Policy program includes PhD, EdD, EdS, and MEd degree programs as well as a graduate concentration in education policy.

Through this search, we seek a dynamic colleague who will contribute to this mission through exemplary teaching, mentoring, service, and scholarship, broadly defined. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to effective preparation of future educational leaders through evidence of effective leadership and instructional success. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching and scholarship include a focus on leadership development, principal preparation, and innovation in educational leadership and policy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses and mentor students in our nationally recognized online MEd program, which leads to eligibility for Florida Level 1 administrator certification and may also contribute to teaching in master’s, specialist, doctoral programs on-campus and online.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty whose research and teaching are nationally renowned. The successful candidate will have opportunities to affiliate with campus partners including UF’s Education Policy Research Center (www.ufedpolicy.org) and the Early Childhood Policy Centers Collaborative.

This 12-month non-tenure accruing faculty appointment will begin August 2024 and is based on the Gainesville, FL campus. The position will be for an initial three-year term with continued renewal contingent on program enrollment and institutional funding. The position’s primary assignment is full-time teaching across fall, spring, and summer terms; service and administrative opportunities are possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses at the master’s and specialist level (with possibility of doctoral teaching) through online, hybrid, and face-to-face modalities (the equivalent of 4 courses a semester for fall and spring, and 2 courses in the summer)
  • Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and the profession
Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  • An earned doctorate in education leadership/administration & policy or a closely related field awarded by the time of hire
  • A track record of successful leadership in PK-12 educational organizations
  • Successful experience teaching and/or providing professional development to adult learners
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with online or hybrid instruction as an instructor
  • Demonstrated track record of research productivity in educational leadership and policy or related field
  • Familiarity with Florida Educational Leadership Standards and/or National Educational Leadership Preparation Standards
  • Teaching, research, and/or service experiences with diverse settings and populations
  • Proven ability to ground teaching and/or scholarship in evidence-based practices
