Job Description:

The Education and Training Specialist II is responsible for providing education and training about funded projects that focus on pain management alternatives to opioids and emergency medical services for children. The programs focus on providing education and training to a wide-range of populations, such as community members, healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers in the emergency department, inpatient, clinic environments, and within the community. This position will develop and deliver educational sessions, workshops, and trainings; evaluate effectiveness; develop databases; develop presentations; and assist with team meetings. The Education and Training Specialist II will report to the Associate Director of Clinical Research.

  • Provides education and coaching to individuals and groups on pain management alternatives to opioids and emergency care for children. Populations include patients and their caregivers in the emergency department, inpatient, and clinic environments at both UF Health Jacksonville hospitals, as well as community members and organizations. Takes part in patient and staff rounds. Communicates regularly with hospital partners, project stakeholders and investigators. Assist with tracking relevant metrics and surveys for projects.
  • Works with project teams (investigators, stakeholders, content experts, community and state organizations, and others) to develop and deliver pain management and emergency care educational sessions, workshops, and trainings, and applies best practice models and learning theories. Collaborates with project teams on program development and design and assessing training needs using surveys, interviews and/or focus groups. Evaluates training effectiveness and achievement of learning outcomes and recommends changes or adjustments as needed. Develops and maintains databases (REDCap, Qualtrics, Excel, etc.) for training evaluations and other relevant metrics. Analyzes and evaluates external training resources, including software packages and instructional guides, with consideration for cost, impact, and suitability.
  • Creates educational materials such as presentations, round table talks, handouts, brochures, infographics, data visualizations, social media, videos, etc. Adapts and updates materials (brochures, educational materials, videos, etc.) based on feedback and national and state guidelines.
  • 10% Assists with presentations, project team meetings, study program agendas, and reporting. Maintains project related literature databases (Mendeley, Zotero). Works with study team to identify new funding sources and assists in applications, as needed. Completes other assigned duties.
Expected Salary:

$55,000 to $70,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field such as nursing, paramedicine, public health, social work, case management, integrative medicine or psychology and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Master’s degree preferred. Professional experience in patient education, pain management, emergency medicine, or integrative medicine. Clinical experience as a nurse, counselor, paramedic, pharmacy technician or other clinical health profession. Data and project management experience.

Usual work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm with one evening shift per week and occasional weekend or evening events. There will be travel for educational sessions, workshops, and trainings, and occasional on call duties.
