Job Description:

Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is seeking candidates for a full-time position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track).  The successful candidate will develop and direct research to determine the brain circuitry and systems necessary for sensory-driven motivated decisions and behaviors. As part of this, the successful candidate will:

  • Determine and develop appropriate methods to allow for rigorous, controlled, and sensitive data collection from awake behaving mice using optogenetic, chemo-genetic, pharmacological, electrophysiological, and optical methods.
  • Train and supervise lab staff in the execution of research methods and the subsequent data analysis.
  • Serve as a liaison between PI, lab staff and collaborators within as well as external to UF to coordinate projects in an efficient manner, and
  • Synthesize results into peer-reviewed manuscripts and also deliver results at conferences. The successful candidate is expected to compete for external funding to support projects as they develop, and to aid the PI/supervisor in grant preparation and reporting. 

Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Complete understanding and compliance with laboratory regulations such as ACS, EH&S, IACUC, UF State and Federal guidelines.
  • Support of accurate records and legal documentation required by institutional policies such as biological, chemical, and radiation safety policies. The successful candidate will be expected to accomplish the above duties independently, with only minimal consultation from the PI/supervisor.
Expected Salary:

$68,000-$75,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Requirements include a PhD and/or MD in pharmacology and/or related field and at least 2-6 years post-doctoral experience or the equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Superb written English to enable effective manuscript and grant preparation. Evidence of writing as documented by publications in peer reviewed journals.

Proven track record with evidence of managing time to prioritize projects to meet deadlines.

Outstanding professionalism and interpersonal skills.
