Job Description:

The Department of Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenured position at the rank of Professor beginning August 16, 2024, in the Philosophy and Ethics of AI.

The successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda in the Philosophy and Ethics of AI, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. Applicants must have an established record of high-quality research in the Philosophy and Ethics of AI and the ability to contribute significantly to the interdisciplinary UF AI initiative.

The department has recently grown with multiple hires in the last several years. It is committed to ensuring a robust coverage of all the core areas of philosophy, though it has developed special strength in the ethics of technology and artificial intelligence. This latter strength has enabled the department to play a critical role in UF's AI initiative (https://ai.ufl.edu), both in teaching and research, including interdisciplinary research. Advertised Salary:

Ph.D. in Philosophy.
