Job Description:

The Department of Pharmacodynamics, College of Pharmacy, University of Florida, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Candidates should have demonstrable success in academic research and extramural funding relative to their career stage, and an interest in contributing to graduate and professional education in the College. The area of specialization within pharmacology is open but is expected to foster interdisciplinary research and/or drug discovery and development. Current work in the department focuses on the neurobiology and treatment of addiction, reward, pain, and stress, on the central and peripheral impacts of aging, on the biological mediators of neuroHIV, on the role of microglia and neuroinflammation in the etiology of neurodegenerative disorders, on the effects of microgravity on muscle cell biology, and on the use of transcriptional regulators as novel therapeutics in metabolic/cardiovascular disorders, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. The Department is interested in recruiting highly motivated and collaborative individuals with compatible academic interests and complimentary technical skills. We have particular interest in applicants with expertise in whole animal systems physiology and pharmacology, in vivo imaging, quantitative receptor mediated signal transduction, metabolomics, proteomics and transcriptomics. We are also interested in novel in vitro and in vivo models of disease. The department is located within the UF Health Science Center. This unique research environment offers excellent opportunities for synergistic collaborations.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. related to medical sciences and postdoctoral research experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching and mentoring/training students.

Experience developing competitive extramural grant applications.
