Job Description: |
Software and Hardware Support: Purchase, register, install, update, and remove both free and restricted software and operating systems on new and current departmental computers. Maintain and renew licenses and installation files for purchased software. Update and install new programs on the ABE virtual server. Spec, quote, purchase, install, and replace hardware on departmental computers. Provide support on Linux, MacOS and Windows operating systems and servers. Provide software support for computer lab during classes, when requested.
Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on departmental computers.
General IT Support of ABE Department: Due to the diverse IT needs of the department, duties include but are not limited to: completing IT ticket requests submitted via the UF/IFAS ticket system, liaising between departmental faculty/staff and UF/IFAS IT, when necessary; offering videoconferencing support; generating and maintaining IT service records and SOPs; training faculty and staff members on the use of fundamental programs, Windows, the Microsoft Office Suite, and internet browsers, upon request; and other IT support tasks as needed.
IT Security and Maintaining Physical and Network Resources: Resolve UF Incident Response Team alerts; from simple Java updates, to removing malicious software, to addressing software copyright infringement claims. Disseminate relevant UF/IFAS IT alerts to departmental personnel. Manage private folder permissions on ABE servers and network printers. Submit network port activation requests. Monitor and maintain adequate IT supplies, by purchasing new hardware or requesting/retrieving hardware from UF Surplus.
