The lab’s recent work has identified critical gaps in clinical knowledge, demonstrated generation- and sex-specific disruptions in the brain–gut–microbiome axis caused by anesthesia, and uncovered promising therapeutic targets that may prevent perioperative neurocognitive disorders. Ongoing studies explore innovative pharmacologic strategies with strong translational potential, with the overarching goal of improving long-term neurologic health in patients and their future children.
