UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate-level Computer Operator II to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology - Single Operations Center, a unit within UFIT.
Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.
As part of ICT, you will join the Single Operations Center team, which is the foundational support team for UF Information Technology. This team is a 24x7x365 team that supports the university’s success through service and operational excellence. As a Computer Operator II, you will work closely both with teams from across UFIT and your peers in order to aid in the monitoring of UF’s systems and services. This position is responsible monitoring the status and operators of systems, responding to customer inquiries, reported incidents, and monitoring alerts.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
- Monitoring the status and operations of systems and contacting appropriate technical staff when escalation is required
- Monitoring critical bath processes while responding to abnormal conditions, as appropriate.
- Assists with support of the Florida LamdaRail Network Operating Center as well as UFIT’s Data Center’s and Core Infrastructure Buildings
- Assist with UF Computing Help Desk tasks and Single Operations Center documentation, as needed.
- Makes recommendations for new procedures/documentation for improvements as well as mentors and assists with training of Computer Operator I’s in the unit.
