Job Description:

The University of Florida's Anaclerio Learning and Assessment Center (ALAC) is looking for a highly motivated Standardized Patient Trainer to join our dynamic team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to impact the future of healthcare education.

As a Standardized Patient Trainer, you will play a key role in preparing medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals for real-world clinical scenarios. Your responsibilities will include training standardized patients (SPs) and coordinating day-of activities to support effective medical education. To succeed in this role, you should be proficient with standard medical equipment, have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

About This Role

Training Support

  • Assist in training Standardized Patients and physical exam teaching instructors by conducting training sessions using established plans and coaching techniques.
  • Provide guidance to ensure Standardized Patients and instructors meet performance standards and can deliver appropriate feedback to learners.
  • Conduct debriefings to offer constructive feedback on performance and feedback skills, ensuring alignment with evaluation standards.

Instructional Activities

  • Assist the Standardized Patient Educator with implementing instructional activities and examinations.
  • Manage logistical aspects, including supplies, room allocation, and setup/teardown of training areas.

Recruitment and Evaluation

  • Assist in recruiting and evaluating new Standardized Patients.
  • Conduct phone interviews, coordinate auditions, and evaluate candidates for acceptance into the program.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of employment documentation.

Quality Assurance

  • Assist with quality assurance activities, including evaluating teaching and assessment methods.
  • Engage in research activities involving Standardized Patients.

The Anaclerio Learning and Assessment Center was established through the generosity and commitment of Dr. Angelo Anaclerio and his wife, Alberta, in honor of Dr. Anaclerio's 50th anniversary of graduating from the UF College of Medicine. Our state-of-the-art facility fosters collaborative and team-based learning, enabling students to apply their skills in providing safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. We offer 18 patient examination rooms equipped with cameras, write-up stations, and consultation areas, as well as two hospital rooms identical to those at UF Health Shands Hospital. Additionally, our technical command center supports video recording and remote assessment. This comprehensive setup ensures that healthcare education and training at UFCELS remain at the forefront of excellence and innovation.

Expected Salary:

$20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in health-related field, education, or simulation technology. 
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a standardized patient.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of personnel, including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Proven ability to train and provide effective feedback.
