The University of Florida (UF) Department of Epidemiology seeks diligent, detail-oriented individuals to function as OPS Study Interviewers. UF currently serves as the coordinating center for the National Drug Early Warning System (NDEWS), which uses several approaches to provide real-time surveillance to detect early signals of drug use trends. One important effort is Rapid Street Reporting (RSR), which involves conducting anonymous surveys at 17 sentinel sites and additional hotspots. This allows us to see what substances people are currently using in different parts of the country, as well as any adverse effects people may be experiencing.
NDEWS is looking for individuals to assist with the RSR effort on location over multiple weekend periods. Those who have experience with interviewing are strongly encouraged to apply. Must be dependable and willing to engage with diverse populations.
• Approach individuals in multiple cities at outdoor and indoor locations.
• Obtain verbal consent for anonymous survey on use and knowledge of approximately 100 substances.
• Remain available for questions during survey self-administration via electronic tablet.
• Participate in all training sessions.
