Policy and Governance – Participate in internal and external committees and organizations related to information technology. Monitor pending changes in laws, policies, and regulations that could impact the WCB; develop and execute plans to enable compliance with minimum cost and disruption. Develop and implement local policies, standards, procedures, and best practices that foster a secure, productive, cost-effective computing environment for the WCB.
Strategy – Monitor and evaluate trends in IT and higher education, identifying opportunities and risks. Develop proposals and present them to the college leadership, working together to identify the proper action and develop plans for implementation.
Manage ITSP teams – This position directly supervises the leaders of each ITSP operational team, collaboratively working to establish team goals, prioritize work, and identify resource needs. The director ensures that each team has the right people, skills, and resources to accomplish its mission. The director also mentors the team leads and facilitates their professional development.
Budgeting – The director develops an annual budget, secures funding from the college administration, and oversees the use of those funds, ensuring they are used to meet college goals and in compliance with relevant laws and policies.
Stakeholder Engagement – Engage with WCB faculty, staff, and students to understand their IT needs, any gaps between current services and their needs, and their level of satisfaction with the current services. Identify emerging service needs and opportunities to add value to college programs.
