Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a twelve-­month non-tenure track, full-time position at the rank of Research Scientist in the Center for Compressible Multiphase Turbulence.

The unique and exciting aspects of this position are the possibility of working with some of the world's largest massively parallel computing platforms, the opportunity to work on a complex multi-disciplinary, multi-physics, multi-scale problem of national importance, being exposed to a wide-ranging problems involving physics, mechanics, computer science, and numerical methods, and, finally, the possibility to work with Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) scientists and spend extended periods working at the DOE NNSA labs.

Advertised Salary:

$64,000 - $65,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Engineering or related field with preferred prior experience in microfluidics.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in the area of compressible multiphase turbulence, advance very large-scale simulation science, and perform integrated tasks across multiple disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related engineering field, a minimum of five years of post-doctorate experience, a demonstrated record of individual initiative in research, strong analytic skills, and potential to become an independent academic researcher. It is preferred that candidates possess experience in two or more of the following areas: (1) CFD; in particular high-order finite elements, discontinuous Galerkin methods, front-capturing methods, (2) large (peta) scale simulations, and (3) high performance computing.
