Job Description:

Cancer Preeminence Initiative at the University of Florida Health Science Center

The University of Florida Health Cancer Center under the new leadership of Jonathan Licht, MD, invites applications for established and emerging cancer researchers to complement ongoing and developing cancer research programs in the Cancer Center and across the six Colleges of the UF Health Science Center (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine).  Applications are particular welcome in the following areas:  1) Epigenetics, chromatin dynamics and DNA damage and repair and including use of high throughput technologies, bioinformatics and chemical biology; 2) Cancer immunotherapy, including vaccine, checkpoint inhibitors and engineered T cell approaches. 3) Aging and impact of stress, mitochondrial function and metabolism/metabolomics on carcinogenesis; 4) Infectious agents and cancer including: oncogenic pathogens (e.g. HPV, HIV, EBV, heliobacter), virolytics, and microbiomics. 5) Physical sciences approaches to cancer research including chemical biology. 6) Cancer prevention and symptom control. Research programs in these areas with potential translation into diagnostic or therapeutic strategies are encouraged.

This is a cancer program involving all six colleges of medical sciences at UF. Minimum Requirements:

The ideal candidates should hold a doctoral degree, be a tenure-track investigator with a national reputation for scholarship, have a track record of independent research funding and be appropriate for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank. Promising new investigators, particularly those holding K99/R00 awards are also invited to apply for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. Experience in research programs leadership and administration, research education and training, and technology transfer is desirable.  For clinician-scientists, opportunities for practice are available through our Health Science Center Colleges. The appointment also may involve an administrative assignment.
