The admission of new students at the University of Florida is a very complex operation utilizing a highly sophisticated on-line computer system. The Admissions Office processes approximately 40,000 applications each year from both native and international students at the entering freshman, undergraduate transfer, graduate and professional school levels for admission to programs in more than 100 different departments in the 20 colleges and schools that make up the University. Application procedures and admission requirements differ considerable depending upon the level and term of entrance, the program, and residence classification of the applicant. The duties of this position must be performed with a minimum of direct supervision and the employee must exercise a good deal of independent judgment in such activities as determining the specific transcripts, test scores, etc., required for action on each individual application; in determining if credentials including foreign transcripts may be considered as a complete and official record for admission purposes; in determining the appropriate level of entrance for which an application should be considered based on an evaluation of the information provided. A thorough understanding of SUS and University admission policies, the Articulation Agreement between the State Universities and Florida Public Community Colleges, and the selective admissions process is necessary.
