The Animal Care Technician 1 (ACT1) provides basic care of animals and animal facilities by completing primarily simple and routine animal caretaking and cage wash duties as directed by Operations Manager or their designee, which may occur up to 50% of the time of overall job duties and responsibilities. All actions are completed by strictly and consistently following applicable ACS SOPs including safety procedures and policies. Reports any suspected or actual deviations to SOP’s or non-routine situations immediately to Operations Manager or their designee. This position is working in one of Animal Care Services cage wash sections, this ACT1 will operate cage wash machinery to include tunnel washer, rack washer, bedding vacuum system, waste disposal BSC, water bottle filling station, bedding dispenser, autoclaves and other related units. Will maintain cage wash support-areas including Edstrom water rooms, gas tank rooms, storage rooms, etc.

Families join the program prenatally or soon after the birth of the baby and can last three to five years, depending upon the needs of the family.
