Research Assistant II 60210000 - AG-SOIL AND WATER SCIENCE Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
As Research Assistant II you will play a critical role to collect field and lab-data in a large-scale national climate-smart agriculture partnership project. The project aims to quantify soil carbon, soil health, and ecosystem services under various climate-smart management practices. Your primary role will entail independently collect soil samples, spectral data, and geographic coordinates at sampling sites on farms that grow specialty crops in Florida and out-of-state. Travel is required for this position. Reliable handling of samples, spectral instruments, and data will be critically important. An individual in this position possesses excellent skills to communicate efficiently with project members, supervisor, and growers/farmers. A successful applicant should enjoy the outdoors to engage in field sampling under different weather conditions as well as spectral data collection in the laboratory and basic data handling/entry. A proactive attitude to coordinate travel to field sites, to work independently performing assigned tasks, and to meet project milestones are expected.
Lecturer 60210000 - AG-SOIL AND WATER SCIENCE Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
This position will be 70% teaching (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) and 30% academic support. Duties will include, but are not limited to, developing and teaching a new 3000-level undergraduate course “Ecosystem Principles and Practices in Soil and Water Sciences", teaching established 2000 and 3000 courses, and assisting graduate coordinator and academic support staff in monitoring and tracking graduate student progress.
