Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field and demonstrate teaching experience and a commitment to teaching excellence. The successful candidate will teach a combination of introductory and upper-level courses, with a teaching load of three courses in the Fall and three courses in the Spring semester. An important goal of this position will be to support and expand experiential learning in the department curriculum at all levels. Examples of experiential learning could include, but are not limited to, telescope site visits, direct research participation, and/or development of internship programs. The University of Florida has facilities for hands-on learning, including the Campus Teaching Observatory, Rosemary Hill Observatory, instrumentation laboratories, and the HiPerGator computer cluster, among others.
