The Genoyer Lab is looking to hire a biological scientist to perform research related to RNA virology and innate antiviral immunity. The Genoyer Lab is opening in January 2026 and will study how viral RNA localization impacts infection and innate immunity during RNA virus infection, with a particular focus on flaviviruses. We are looking for excited and motivated candidates to help launch our research program.
This position will entail designing and performing experiments related to virology, molecular biology, and cell biology. Experimental approaches include cell culture, viral infection and related assays, molecular biology assays (nucleic acid isolation, PCR, western blot, molecular cloning), RNA imaging techniques, immunofluorescence assays, and fluorescence microscopy. The biological scientist will also be responsible for independently directing and implementing the design, construction, and testing of new laboratory protocols related to these research areas.
This position will also perform general laboratory maintenance, including ordering, routine record keeping, supervising compliance with hazardous waste and biological safety requirements, inventory, maintaining stock solutions, and equipment maintenance.
This individual will also supervise and train multiple technicians and graduate assistants. |

Responsibilities of the position include:
• Teaching lower-division Spanish courses for UF Online, with occasional assignments in the Spanish online residential program; the teaching distribution for this position will be three courses per semester plus a summer assignment.
• Working closely with the UF Online Spanish Coordinator and the Director of Language Instruction to assist in coordinating Lower Division Spanish language online courses and to train and supervise graduate teaching assistants.
