The necropsy laboratory at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine has a position opening for a full time 40-hour CARE position. The position hours may vary. Typically, these will be 8 hour shifts between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm Monday through Friday and between 8:00am-5:00pm on Saturday. This position requires that ability to work with heavy equipment such as hoists, band saws, and a tissue digester. The assistant participates in the necropsy service, works with students and assists with maintenance activities for the service (cleaning, restocking, etc). Qualifications needed include the ability to stand, twist, and lift heavy objects over 50 lbs for extended periods. The position requires the ability to do simple math calculations and to follow specific Standard Operating Procedures with detail. The ability to use a computer and enter lab request and patient information is also desired. The position requires a good level of customer service skills and the ability to solve problems while following procedures.
