Biological Scientist II 60790000 - AG-TREC-HOMESTEAD Dade
The incumbent will coordinate all daily preparation and maintenance of research and extension programs in the Agroecology Lab at the Tropical Research and Education Center. This position is open to University of Florida employees only. Lab activities investigate the foundational concepts and practical applications of agroecology from the perspective of crop physiology and community ecology. Current lab projects include an agroecosystem experiment with a cover crop model system, plant diversity sampling, food system risk modeling, and novel cropping system development. The incumbent should be able to work with a degree of independence when conducting field and laboratory experiments and observational surveys, including sampling of soil and plant material, processing of soil and plant material, data collection, electronic data entry, and record keeping. The incumbent will exhibit good work ethics, the ability to work without constant supervision, and enthusiasm for agroecology.

The academic program focus of this Extension Agent position is Agriculture/Natural Resources. As the CED (about 70% of your time), you will lead the total Miami-Dade extension program. As the Agent (about 30% of your time), you will lead through the design, implementation, and evaluation of agricultural education programs designed to assist clientele in small farm management in a resource‐efficient and environmentally sensitive manner.
