Obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are significant health concerns. A complete knowledge of the mechanisms that cause these diseases is lacking, which hinders the development of safer therapeutic strategies for their treatment. The Chakraborty lab aims to understand mechanisms that regulate the development and progression of these diseases. Using novel, lab-generated mouse models, and available human patient samples, the lab identifies and validates novel targets in obesity and MASLD and subsequently develops pharmacological tools that ameliorate these diseases by targeting these proteins. The lab uses diverse techniques such as proteomics, transcriptomics, lipidomics and cell and molecular biology and pharmacology in cell lines, primary cells and mouse models of obesity and MASLD. This position is in-person and is not eligible for remote work. |
