This position requires a highly motivated, service-focused, self-starting professional to support scientists who are working diligently to discover solutions to some of the most vexing problems in Florida and the world. As a Research Administrator in The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), you are expected to provide comprehensive research administration to a portfolio of faculty/principal investigators (PIs) in various units to ensure the overall effective coordination of research administration services, systems, policies, processes, and compliance.Position will provide lifecycle pre & post-award research administration ensuring the fulfillment of all grant and/or contract and compliance requirements. Major duties include proposal development, review, submission, and management of research-related agreements, and award management, including effort, expenditures, modifications, and closeouts, in addition to regularly communicating with the projects’ sponsors.Working from a remote location is possible.The RA II is a mid-level position with some prior experience in research administration, who 1) applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity, 2) exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action, and 3) works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are sometimes difficult, but typically not complex. The RA II may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices. A full-time position located in the Food and Environmental Toxicology Laboratory within the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department. This position is responsible for the extraction and analyses of various plant samples (e.g. fruits, vegetables, seeds, oils) for pesticide residues in compliance with EPA’s Good Laboratory Practices. This position also modifies and develops methods for challenging combinations of pesticide and sample type. Employee operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and instruments, and uses various software packages for data acquisition and reporting. Employee participates in cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment and facilities.
NW Regional Clean Boating Coordinator 57202000 - FSG-EXTENSION Escambia
The position supports the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)’s Clean Vessel Act (CVA) grant program and Clean Boating Programs in the Northwest Region of Florida. In relation to this position, the NW Region includes The NW Region includes the coast from Escambia County south to (including) Hernando County. The NW Clean Boating Coordinator will work in collaboration with the FDEP’s Clean Boating Programs, other regional Clean Boating Coordinators, the Florida Sea Grant (FSG) CVA Education Coordinator, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension FSG extension agents, interns and other partners/stakeholders to provide education to marine industries and boaters about water pollution prevention, including the Florida Clean Marina Program, the Florida CVA Program (pumpout grants), and no-discharge zones. This position coordinates with FSG Extension leadership and the FDEP’s Clean Boating Programs to meet program deliverables. Duties include recruiting and assist marinas with CVA grant applications and Clean Marina designations. This will be done through a combination of site visits and training workshops. These may be conducted in partnership with FSG extension agents, the FSG CVA education coordinator, and other partners/stakeholders. Responsibilities also include providing education related to the Clean Boating Programs at outreach events.
