The Office of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) is seeking an individual for our team to serve as the coordinator for pre-veterinary recruitment and advising. This person will advise and support undergraduate and prospective applicants on our DVM program and provide resources as needed. An ideal candidate will be high energy, engaging, comfortable with public speaking, an active listener, great with relationship building, able to work in a team and independently, inclusive, and creative with problem solving.
As a member of ASA, this position will promote the intellectual, cultural, personal, and social development of all students through high-quality student life programs as well as promote student organizations and activities in a campus environment to enrich extracurricular activities and the overall student experience. They will work with the ADASA to develop, organize, and deliver programs to enhance and support student life and the university experience.
This position communicates with the public regarding admissions procedures, pre-veterinary advising, current student programs, and other office-related subjects. Additionally, they professionally connect with DVM student groups, faculty, and CVM staff on a regular basis. They are expected to be culturally competent and able to practice neutrality when representing the college.
The recruitment component requires occasional travel on nights and weekends throughout the year. While a background in veterinary medicine is not required, this individual would need to become familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within veterinary medicine and veterinary medicine admissions. They will need to exercise considerable discretion and judgment to deliver appropriate services to a diverse student population. Data collection will be needed to prepare reports and develop metrics for the student activities and as required by administration. |
