In this tenure-accruing position successful candidates are expected to achieve distinction within at least two of three areas: research/scholarship, teaching, and service. This is a full-time, nine (9)-month per year position. The successful candidate will be based on our main campus in Gainesville, Florida and should anticipate a start date of Fall 2026.

This position will contribute to a vibrant, growing program in Graphic Design/Design & Visual Communication with a forward-looking new curriculum at a top public research university. They will join the program at an exciting moment of expansion and development that parallels the university’s increased cultivation of research and the student experience.
During the academic year, this position will teach at all levels in the undergraduate curriculum, including General Education courses for non-majors; introductory courses on the form and philosophy of design or design technologies; upper-level courses on design research, tools, forms, and processes; and a course that guides students through all aspects of working with clients to co-design solutions to problems. The ideal candidate will have experience both as an instructor in higher education and as a professional designer, as well as proficiency with emerging technologies. This position supports the Law & Society component of our program in Criminology & Law by focusing on the study of the social context of law. We seek applicants whose interests include legal decision-making pre-trial (e.g., prosecutorial decision making, plea bargaining), during trial (e.g., juries, courts, sentencing), and/or post-trial (probation, parole). The Lecturer will typically teach three (3) Law & Society courses each semester, such as Law & Legal Process, Law & Society, Juvenile Law, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure. Preference will be given to applicants who can offer other Law & Society courses concerning legal decision making, and/or required Criminology courses such as Criminological Theory and Research Methods in Criminology. Preference will also be given to those with experience teaching multiple class sizes using different teaching modalities (face-to-face, online, hybrid).
