Job Description:

IT Support

Assist the IT Generalist I in providing IT support for the Forestry, Geomatics, and Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences programs in the SFFGS, including onsite support for the Geomatics staff, faculty, and students in Reed Lab, the FAS program and Millhopper FAS facility, and those traveling or on sabbatical. This support may involve PC and Mac hardware and software, printers, scanners, fax machines, smartphones, desk phones, laptops, cameras, mics, speakers, and monitors as well as the setup of conferences, and the diagnosis and resolution of any problems that may arise with the A/V equipment during conferences, meetings, or classes. Some of the equipment that needs to be maintained may be specialized lab equipment such as microscopes, cytometers, scanners, drones, and VR headsets.

TeamDynamix
Submit TeamDynamix tickets to other UF IT departments for new mailboxes for incoming staff, faculty, and students, for new shared mailboxes for service accounts, to map mailboxes to existing email accounts, to request quotes for IT-related projects, and to change information registered to VoIP phones such as number, name, and voicemail pin. Manage tickets submitted by faculty/staff members and respond to them in a timely manner

ADUC
Manage groups in Active Directory to grant staff, faculty, and students’ permission to access shared network folders, use department office printers, installed control software, and RDP into their workstations from other devices. Create service accounts for shared email mailboxes. Remove all access of staff, faculty, and students who leave the department.

New Equipment/Budget
Assist the IT Generalist I with ordering, configuring, and deploying new equipment for staff, faculty, and students. Assist the IT Generalist with the IT budget, enter expenses on budget report, and fill out all paperwork related to purchases.

Software Management
Consult with the FFGS IT Generalist I and tech support of software vendors to manage and troubleshoot software such as AutoCAD, Erdas Imagine, Envi, Matlab, Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, and Adobe Suite, and resolve network, OS and hardware compatibility issues. Other duties as assigned.

Commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Associates degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Four years of relevant experience.

Knowledge of the University of Florida IT policies is helpful.

Also desirable is knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, Windows and Mac Operating Systems and Computer Network Administration, knowledge of general office procedures and office equipment; and ability to fix simple mechanical problems with office equipment.

Strong logic and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to learn quickly and independently, demonstrated analytical ability, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to understand and independently adhere to applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the task assigned, ability to understand and follow complex technical documentation relating to the use or repair of equipment or software.

Mature and sensible attitude necessary for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others is essential.
