Job Description:

The Opportunity
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications seeks a skilled and versatile communicator to join our Marketing and Communications team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented writer and editor with a passion for storytelling, a knack for content strategy, and the ability to juggle multiple projects. From editorial work and web content to newsletters and promotional materials, this position plays a vital role in elevating the College’s voice and visibility across audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Editorial Strategy & Content Creation: Write, edit, and manage a wide range of editorial content including news stories, newsletters, press releases, donor communications, and profiles. Lead content planning and production for both internal and external audiences.
  • Web Content Management: Develop and maintain web content across the College’s sites, collaborating with stakeholders to create and update pages, post event listings, and support digital initiatives.
  • Marketing & Promotion: Support the College’s marketing strategy by crafting compelling content for social media, digital screens, brochures, advertisements, and promotional campaigns.
  • Project & Content Management: Coordinate freelance writers and student contributors, collaborate with designers and communications colleagues, and assist with cross-functional projects like the Dean’s Report and strategic presentations.

Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization, particularly journalism, public relations or marketing, and five years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, particularly in writing and editing.
  • Must be versatile, creative, self-starter, able to work without close supervision.
  • Experience in a communications role for a higher-education institution
  • Public relations experience
