Job Description:

The Liu lab at The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute of Biomedical Innovation and Technology, Department of Chemistry, is seeking outstanding, creative, independent, and highly motivated postdocs.  The Liu lab focuses on the discovery of small molecules for human proteins, as well as the functional characterization of these proteins in physiological and disease contexts. Our lab integrates chemical proteomic technologies—such as activity-based protein profiling (ABPP)—with functional genomic technologies like CRISPR screening to discover new therapies.

  • The successful candidate will assume a leadership position within the lab as a Postdoctoral Associate.
  • Set the tone for both scientific and scholarly excellence.
  • Drive forward complex, innovative, and impactful projects.
  • Develop and write fellowship applications.
  • Participate in a variety of group and departmental seminars and journal club series, as well as national and international conferences.
  • Gain critical experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic group environment.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience.  

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Ph.D. (or MD/PhD) in biological sciences such as molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, or biochemistry, with a strong international publication record.

Preferred:

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Expertise in molecular biology, such as cell culture, gene editing, IP, WB, flow cytometry, in vivo models, etc.
  • Epigenetics/Genomics approaches: ChIP, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, CRISPR Screening, etc.
  • Basic bioinformatic knowledge (R, Python, or other programming languages) or ability to learn.
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills in English, with good organization, attention to detail, and analytical abilities.
